Past Tense

a. Simple Past, Simple past tense untuk menunjukkan bahwa suatu kejadian terjadi di masa lampau.

      1. Affirmative : subject + verb2 ( kata kerja bentuk kedua )

             Example :

             -She talked to me.

        2. Negative : subject + did + not + verb1

             Example :

             -We did not watch match yesterday.

        3. Interrogative : did + subject + verb1

              Example :

             -Did they go for a walk? 

        4. Interrogative dan Negative : did + subject + not + verb1

              Example :

              -Did you not take your lunch?

b. Past Continuous, Past continuous tense digunakan untuk mengungkapkan bahwa suatu aksi sedang terjadi pada waktu tertentu di masa lampau.

         1. Affirmative : subject + was/ were + v(ing)

                     Example :

                    -Linha was making coffee.

         2. Negative : subject + was/ were + not + v(ing)

                      Example :

                     -They were not writing.

        3. Interogative : was/ were + subject + v(ing)

                       Example :

                      -Was he running?

        4. Interrogative dan Negative : was/ were + subject + not + v(ing)

                          Example :

                      -Were the students not taking bath?

c. Past Perfect, Past perfect tense untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu aksi telah selesai pada suatu titik di masa lalu sebelum aksi lainnya terjadi.

         1. Affirmative : subject + had + verb3

                         Example :

                           -We had listened radio.

                           -The train had left by then.

          2. Negative : subject + had + not + verb3

                         Example :

                          -I had not gone yet.

           3. Interrogative : had + subject + verb3

                          Example :

                        -Had the Liverpool they won?

            4. Interrogative dan Negative : had + subject + not + verb3

                          Example :

                       -Had they not washed the dishes?

        Note:
          Sentences that use these tenses usually describes an activity that has been completed before the set   time runs out.

Example :

 -She had completed her work before 3pm.

d. Past Perfect Continuous,  Past perfect continuous tense digunakan untuk mengungkapkan suatu aksi (dengan durasi waktu tertentu) telah selesai pada suatu titik waktu tertentu dimasa lalu.

         1. Affirmative : subject + had + been + v(ing) since/ for

               Example :

                   -She had been sleeping for 10 hours.

         2.Negative : subject + had + not + v(ing) + since/ for

                Example :

                   -He had not been eating since yesterday.

        3. Interrogative : had + subject + been + v(ing) + since/ for

                 Example :

                   -Had they been talking about me for couple days?

         4. Interrogative dan Negative : had + subject + not + been + v(ing) + since/ for

                 Example :

                    -Had you not been going to school for last two days?
